There is a main family and a branch family.The branch family's reason for existence is to protect the main family.The branch family membere are branded with a curse seal,so that if they are captured,the the secrets of the byakugan are suppressed.Negi's father and Hinata's water twins,but Negi's was the branch family.A kumogakure non tried to kidnap hinata,so her dad killed him. Kumogakure,which was.then signing a treaty with monogamy,demanded his body,in exchange.So Negi's dad volunteered to die in his place to protect his clan,as the seal would ensure the hyuuga secrets would not be revealed.Negi thought main branch sacrificed his father instead.
