Darui, overrated?

Try not to flame me, although feel free to if you'd like. Perhaps it's my own fault for not paying too much attention to a side character but my question is:

what's so great about Darui?

-I see many threads saying he could beat kakashi, mei, etc. a Jonin beating kage level ninja's sounds crazy yet many people believe it.

-Also I know he has Black lightening but what again is so special about it? As in what separates it from regular lightening.

-Also I believe much hype comes from him surviving the Cloud demon brothers.

- His KG seems like nothing special, as nobody has died from it, and his huge sword has not shown to be able to do any feats.

What I've seen.

- He could not scratch Susano'o.
- Failed as a Bodyguard and let Raikage lose an arm.
- Was going to get sealed had it not been for plot.


IMO Icould name 30 ninja's who could defeat this guy, so instead of flaming me would anyone like to enlighten me on Darui so I may change my mind?

i dont think people really 'overestimate' him - he just has hype after plot from G+S bros -
BUT his KG is extremely good, precision - power - a wide spread. Although hes made some mistakes - hes given some 'power-ups' like black lightning etc to make himself standout as the 'right hand man' of the raikage -

Mainly he's just a really likeable character with some powerups that have been SAID to be really good but arent SEEN to be as OP as a lot of other Char's abilities

Darui is not overrated, we just haven't seen enough of him. Black lightning is obviously special somehow, Kishi just haven't explained it. Also, of course his laser circus hasn't killed anyone. The only people he used it on are Sasuke and the bros. So, of course Sasuke won't be killed by a secondary character and the bros were Edo's, so they couldn't be killed.
Nothing's wrong with putting Darui up against Kakashi or Mei in VS threads. Darui would be a good match for the both of them. But, yeah he would ultimately lose.

I guess everyone has their weakness , yet I think darui's lightning style is superior to Kakashi and they are both pretty smart, but then you have kakashi's sharingan .. so yes it isn't a-b-c logic , it really depends on circumstances and that
for example konan>darui if she had prep but without prep it would be a pretty tough fight (just for example)

Yeah, when Raikage is as old as Hiruzen, maybe older.

Even if he doesn't A knows that B isn't a very WISE person, that's why he didn't want B to fight, but then again A isn't very wise either.

I think he could NOT beat Kakashi or Guy.That being said he is not a weakling either, but Kinkaku and Ginkaku are LAME, they are not even strong, they just have a large chakra pool that allows them to use OP weapons.Take the SO6P weapons away and they are crap.

Darui got lucky in that fight as his most used word switched the instant he was being absorbed by the gourd.And then getting those super weapons he managed to cause them A LOT of trouble.

Even if he doesn't A knows that B isn't a very WISE person, that's why he didn't want B to fight, but then again A isn't very wise either.

I doubt it.

Also if they let a hot head like A be Raikage, Killer B would be an upgrade.

Yeah i guess you have a point , its the enemy's mistakes that make the good guys look better , if you haven't noticed the villains all have a trend of under estimating their opponents which usually leads to them nearly or dying -
For example Tobi underestimated konan and lost an arm and an eye because of this
The Gold and Silver Brothers underestimated Darui and ended up being sealed,
So I suppose if Darui fought an opponent like Kakashi who wouldn't underestimate him you could say the fight could go either way but I guess if anyone based the fact that Darui beat x ninja so therefore will beat kakashi then thats not valid because indeed it wasn't exactly a fair fight as the brothers didn't show their full strength but also it was because it is their weakness to underestimate opponents
But in the end no I don't think hes over rated as he still managed to use the amber pot which absorbed a lot of his already diminished chakra and continued fighting afterwards , also he must be A's right hand man for a reason we have yet to see more of his abilities
