Tori was born in the autumn to Atsushi and Asami Yamaguchi. She was born in Sunagakure due to their being the only hospital in the land. After her birth she was taken to Wakkanai. It is a small shinobi village in the Land of Wind.

Just like its nation, Wakkanai was rather poor, depending on the work of its shinobi for money to sustain itself. It is located near the sea on which it depends for food. The village was named Wakkanai (稚内市) by its founders Gorou & Hachiro, who attribute the villages existence to a bird who helped them discover their destiny. And as payment for the bird's help they vowed they would change their ways and teach others the path of humility and respect for nature. They would later die after appointing its first leader, Katsuo Shimizu. The village would suffer huge losses after several unconfirmed rouge shinobi from the nearby islands attacked with the pretense of "looking for food." However they're true motives were revealed by one of the villages Jounin, Atsuchi Yamaguchi. The rouge shinobi, enraged by Atsuchi's clever plan, left the village only to return at night and ransack the village and set it aflame. Despite how great the losses, the village was able to drive away its aggressors. Those remaining helped rebuild the village. However they could not replace the loss of life that had been lost. Of the confirmed dead bodies, one of those belonged to Atsuchi.

[B][COLOR="DarkSlateBlue"]Village Life[/COLOR][/B]

Tori was well known in the village, especially for his peculiar interest in birds. She loved studying birds by the beach and looking towards the sea daydreaming about being a shinobi like her father. Her mother, knowing how often she frequented the beach, made him an anklet made of turtle shell shaped like birds for good luck.

When not in school, Tori spent her afternoons training with her father. Her mother, a Chuunin, was assigned to shinobi basic training (equivalent to a Konoha academy teacher). Tori was loved by both her parents and community. But the stigma added with successful parents, Tori was always pressured to be successful like her parents. But however much the hardships Tori faced, her fears and worries went away after a relaxing stroll to the beach. But how strange that her favorite pastime (much to the villages disapproval), ended up being her salvation.

Although not good at making friends, Tori was able to befriend Keiji, the second son of the the village leader. They became friends after Tori was drowning near the beach and Keiji spotted her while on a walk and rushed to save her. They both spent some evenings, when not in training, going to the docks and fishing.

Life was wonderful indeed and for the first time, Tori felt that nothing could ever go wrong. So one day she planned to spend the whole day at the beach catching shells to make her mother a necklace for her anniversary. However this time she took a different route instead of her usual one and ended up lost. It was getting dark and she was hungry. He had forgotten to take the lunch her mother had made for her. She was getting desperate and very hungry. What could she do? Just then she noticed a small bird walking unusually fast. She was puzzled as to what made it walk like that. She decided to follow it and investigate. The more she walked the more noticeable the pillar of smoke that started rising in the evening sky became. She knew she wasn't far from it because the smell was getting more and more intense.

Eventually, the bird reached a crossroads that was very familiar to Tori. She noticed one side was the one that led to the beach and the other led to her village. But what was unusual was that as soon as she noticed the flames on the nearby trees, she looked down towards the bird and it was gone. Suddenly worried that the flames were coming from her village, she dashed home only to find the entrance blocked by fallen debris. She found a way around by using the nearby forest while making note of the peculiar shadows of several people dashing thru its branches. To her horror, her home was aflame and on the verge of collapsing. She held her breath and swallowed her fear and rushed to the inside of her home.

[IMG2=Left]http://tinyurl.com/buejjyw[/IMG2]There, between her and a burning log that fell from the roof, lay her mother. Tori cried, "Mother! Mother get up! We need to escape!" But no matter how loud she yelled her mother never got up. Suddenly a piece of the roof rumbles and collapses. Luckily Tori is saved by her neighbor, Hideki. He rapidly runs out of the burning building all the while carrying Tori yelling after her mother hoping she would appear. Hideki kneels down and grabs Tori's shoulders telling her to shut up to avoid the enemy from finding them. Tori, holding back her tears, calms down and escapes with the remaining villagers to a cave that was built for emergencies. There she learns of the events of what happened and to her horror, the death of her friend Keiji and her father Atsushi.

The remaining days were hard for Tori as she helped bury the dead and rebuild the town. As time went by her heart grew cold and she he became very distant with everyone. The villagers understood his sadness but nonetheless they did everything they could to change Tori's mind eventually leading her to come to terms with the death of her family and friends.

Several months later a traveling merchant came to their village. While buying somethings for the village Tori noticed that the merchant carried a rather strange scroll with the Suna symbol written on it, hidden in the back of the cart. When she inquired about it the merchant nervously avoided Tori's gaze. Tori eventually got him to reveal the mystery of the scroll. He explained that it belonged to a very powerful shinobi who had mastered Swift Release and had the same last name as her. Tori was able to squeeze more information from the merchant and discovered the shinobi was from Sunagakure. So after the merchant left and after much talk with the village elders, Tori was able to convince them to allow her to travel further into the country in hopes of finding this shinobi. She decided to find training nearby and obtain knowledge on about this new mystery and how to become stronger, in hopes of returning one day with pride and justice served.

So she set out to the outskirts of her village. Took nearly 2 years to gather information (she took a lot of detours not to mention all the information gathering) but she made was able to find some teachers who were kind enough to teach her the ways of the ninja. To avoid raising suspicion, Tori changed her name to Aveline de Grandpré. She had heard the name once because it was about a heroine who saved her village with her courage and strength. Aveline looked to the sky one day and saw a bird flying, realizing her dream was soon to flourish and her dream is ever closer to its destination.

Asuma had brown eyes, short, black spiky hair and beard. His clothing consisted of the standard Konoha ninja uniform with the sleeves rolled up half way, flak jacket, regular shinobi sandals and forehead protector. He also wore the Twelve Guardian Ninja sash that had the kanji for "Fire" (火) marked on it around his waist, a pair of black bangles and bandages wrapped around the arms of his sleeves.

In the anime, it was shown that while he was a member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja he wore a simple long sleeved shirt with bandages on the arms, pants, that sash denoting he was a guardian and a jacket with a fur collar. He also had his trench knives with him at that point.

He was a heavy smoker but despite this, he would abruptly break the habit under certain circumstances, such as when his father died, or learned that Kurenai was pregnant. Asuma and Shikamaru playing shōgi.

Despite Asuma's very blunt personality, often calling his students what they were unreservedly, a "glutton" (Chōji), a "loud mouth" (Ino), and a "slacker" (Shikamaru), he had a very good relationship with all three. He often took them to Yakiniku Q for lunch and dinner where more often than not Chōji would eat too much and Asuma had to pay more and apologize emphatically to the owner. To help them overcome their underachieving natures, he attempted to use bribery and outright trickery to manipulate them into doing what he wanted. This was seen most with Chōji, who Asuma was frequently able to entice into action with the promise of food and even Shikamaru whom he had to use games like shōgi on to assess his skill level. Of his students, Asuma spent the most time with and was closest to, Shikamaru. Asuma and Shikamaru often played shōgi or Go in their free time, though Asuma was never able to beat Shikamaru. It was Asuma who first discovered that the lazy Shikamaru was actually a genius, with an I.Q. over 200.

Throughout the series it had been heavily hinted that Asuma was romantically involved with fellow jōnin Kurenai Yūhi. The two appeared together in most of their scenes, and the other characters made it a point to note this fact on several occasions. When Kakashi Hatake found the two together at a dumpling shop, Kakashi asked if they were on a date, to which Asuma responded by quickly changing the subject. In a flashback, Asuma was shown buying flowers for a person he refused to name, though Ino asked that he say hello to Kurenai for her anyway, to which Asuma nervously asked how she knew about it.

Asuma was born the son of Hiruzen and Biwako Sarutobi, and in later years, would become the uncle of Konohamaru. Around the time of the Nine-Tails' Attack on Konoha, he along with the other young ninjas was also barred by Kurenai Yūhi's father from participating in the defence of the village.

When Chōji, fearing the competition, contemplated forfeiting his match during the preliminaries of the Chūnin Exam, Asuma convinced him not to by offering to take him out for "all you can eat" barbecue (yakiniku or Korean kalbi). Asuma also claimed that he'd stop the match if it got out of hand, as the other jōnin did during Hinata Hyūga's match. Both Ino and Shikamaru noted to themselves that Asuma didn't actually help in that instance.

Later, during the invasion of Konoha, Shikamaru was left by himself to defend against a group of imposing Sound ninja. Just as Shikamaru ran out of options, and the Sound ninja were about to finish him off, Asuma appeared and single-handedly defeated the group without being hit once. After the invasion, he attended his father's funeral.

During his brief battle with Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki, Asuma managed to catch Kisame off-guard with his trench knives, leaving a slight cut on Kisame's cheek. The rest of the battle went poorly for Asuma, however, and he was nearly hit by Kisame's Water Release: Water Shark Bullet Technique. Kakashi Hatake arrived in time to copy the technique, and used it to block the attack, thus saving Asuma. He then discovered that the mastermind behind the invasion was none other than Kazuma himself. After a heated battle, Asuma managed to defeat Kazuma. As Kazuma died talking about the future of the Fire Country, Asuma calmly said that its future would be fine, because he would see to it that its true "king" remained safe.

This bio's version of the knives are made from regular steel as opposed to the cannon ones that are made from a special metal.

Asuma Sarutobi couples these knives with his taijutsu skills to great effect, such that he can take out nine Otogakure ninja in a matter of seconds. When infused with wind-natured chakra, it can easily pierce through stone. The knives' damage and effect can also be maximised if the person has a better control of their chakra as seen with how Asuma was training Sora and with Naruto Uzumaki in focusing their wind chakra into their kunai.

He often took them to Yakiniku Q for lunch and dinner where more often than not Chōji would eat too much and Asuma had to pay more and apologize emphatically to the owner. To help them overcome their underachieving natures, he attempted to use bribery and outright trickery to manipulate them into doing what he wanted. The two appeared together in most of their scenes, and the other characters made it a point to note this fact on several occasions. [justify]He studied the powers of the One-Tailed Raccoon and found a way to combine his own magnetic powers with iron sand to make the iron sand technique. This ability was the reason that made him renowned as the strongest Kazekage in Sunagakure's history. The Third Kazekage has the kekkei genkai ability of Magnet Release, which utilizes his own chakra to manipulate magnetic forces. Combined with his research on the Shukkaku he used this ability in combination with iron sand, manipulating it for offense and defense. With his Magnet Release, he is also able to manipulate metallic weapons used against him nullifying them. Other than that, not much is known about him, however he did meet this one outstanding fellow nin. His name was a Vision. Where he talked all sorts of things with him including battles and training. With some knowledge that Vision has given him, He has chosen a path to get stronger. Stronger than he is now, so that he can compete with other ninja's that he has seen. The third Kazekage carries a Iron Sand Gourd on his back, which the point of the opening is towards his left shoulder and the bottom towards the right hip. The gourd itself is made from iron sand and it holds a lot of iron sand inside the gourd.

The third Kazekage also carries a lot of Kunai's, Shurikens, Smoke Bombs and Flash bombs. Enough so that he will be able to last atleast three full battles.
