How come Shisui Uchiha had Mangekyou Sharingan?

Sasuke obtained his MS from the death of someone close to him, orochimaru, even though it was itachi who defeated him. so this would suggest that the person obaining the MS doesn't need to kill the person first hand, but just experience the trauma of losing someone close to you.

Aha, that could be true, and as a member of root you needed to obey Danzo, so thats why Danzo just took hes right eye I guess. :shrug:

Somewhat, but Shisui eye was taken by Danzou because he was taken matters in his own hands to stop the Uchiha Coupe.
