Tobi knew about Itachi's mission?

I was rereading the manga, and when itachi and nagato are facing bee and naruto, naruto tells itachi that tobi told him what happened. then itachi thinks "damn tobi, how'd he know?" but then a couple weeks ago when itachi gave sasuke a flashback on the mission, it's pretty clear that he conversed with tobi before the uchiha massacre? I just wanna know if kishi just changed his mind on what happened..or was itachi still lying during that fight?

Itachi never told he truth on the mission to Tobi, he only made him the offer to help take revenge...
