Is Gaara sand a kekken genkai?

I think it is his mother's love protecting him, so its something like her spirit is embedded into the sand to protect him.

Kinda of confusing, maybe she had some sort of kekkei genkai.

Must be a kekkei genkai im sure. Sasori ability that he stole from the previous kazekage was a kekkei genkai to control iron particles. so i see the sand one as a step down from that. And he used to mix the sand with blood to make it stronger when shukaku was with him still. epicness

His mother is not the reason he controls the sand, but its why is automatically defends him. Gaara is capable of manipulating the sand himself

Its the kekki genkai magnet release which the 3rd and 4th kaze kages possess, dont know if Gaara has it though

Apparently on naruto wiki it doesn't say he has any kekkei genkai, meaning his mother protects him with the sand, and he uses it with his huge amount of chakra

Well when Shukaku was put into him over time the ability to manipulate sand might have merged into either his genes or chakra as he was still a premature baby when it was sealed into him. Hard to be certain of this subject though but things were left behind when Shukaku was ripped out otherwise he couldn´t use it.

Just look at the rings of his father eyes when he used magnet release.

really doubt it is i think the dark lines around his eyes are because of fatigue from using his gold dust technique, Garas father didnt always have the dark rings around his eyes, and look at chapter 547. And if it was id think that Kankuro and Tamari would have them.
