[Q of the Sharingan]

They have both shown equal intelligence feats so I am going to go buy academy graduation age. Itachi at 7 and Minato at 10. Itachi does have an edge by having the sharingan, which helps with his analytic skills. This doesn't mean anybody with sharingan could deduce a jutsu workings, so I'm going to give it to Itachi.

p.s. It takes some serious mind f***ing ability to get someone to position themselves in the exact same way twice (Izanami)

Comparable feats in battle (If not better) + Coming up with hax jutsus gives him the edge .

whereas Minato in his First fight Defeated Tobi

Yondaime has shown greater intelligence feats.

Minato is able to create incredible difficult ninjutsu, understand other techniques by seen it one time, within others. His comprehension skills are just outstanding.

People tend to mix talent with intelligence. Minato has amazing talent because he is able to exploit his skills and intelligence to make the best of him, while Itachi was blessed with Sharingan and good genes, just giving him a whole of of things that otherwise wouldn't have come to him.

I can agree with this.. But I really believe that even if Itachi wasn't bless with sharingan or uchiha's body, his intelligence & analytical skill are still close or if not, equal to that of Yondaime.

To OP: Imo, the title of genius can be given to these particular shinobi's:
Minato=Itachi> Shikaku=Shikamaru> Tobi=Kabuto=Kakashi> Hiruzen=Oro=Tobirama >Sasuke=Neji

Tobi is very intelligent, at least at Itachi's level. And if we're getting into analyzing, then Kakashi is up there with Minato. Shika's are strategist.

Well, I don't know about that. But Itachi's caliber was far from any other Uchiha's who awakened their sharingans before. Besides, it's still uncertain if Minato possess a KG or not. We don't know much about him & I wouldn't go for that conclusion only to be mistaken in the near future. Furthermore, as I think about his abilities, he was so damn good to be true for just a normal shinobi.
