Chakra is the combination of spiritual and physical energies present in the body of the shinobi. Shinobi have the ability to mold this chakra, allowing them to perform ninjutsu techniques, among other things. Its contained in the chakra circulatory system, where it is regulated throughout the entire body. The amount of chakra needed for a technique is sometimes defined with hand seals, each seal acting as an "instruction booklet". Basic chakra can also be used to create fire, wind, water, lightning and earth, through the use of nature manipulation, which changes the chakra identity of basic chakra. Earth in the real world is composed of organic materials, sand, and clay-like materials. It composes the crust and majority of the upper mantle of the earth. The earth has many metals and substances in it, and contains some of the world's most precious materials.

Earth in Naruto is a type of release, using the ground, or emitting earth from your mouth, or from your skin. Shinobi of Iwagakure have a primarily earth affinity, being from the Village hidden in Stones. It has the ability to change its weight, and density. It also can change consistency, becoming like mud, or hardening itself to increase your defensive capabilities. It is easily one of the most powerful releases there is because of the large scale techniques possible from it. However, contact with the ground is required for most techniques, making the shinobi stay grounded when fighting. It is weak to lightning, and strong to water techniques.

I want you to slam your hands onto the ground and release the new-found earth chakra you have into the ground beneath your hands. Then, I want you to use the chakra to create a single kunai made out of earth. To do this you'll need to concentrate on the way you shape your chakra, using it to form the kunai. Give it a try, I know you can do it.

I listen to your instructions, and then begin. I focus chakra into both of my hands, and then crouch down and place them on the ground. I then release the focused chakra, sending my chakra into the earth, raising a clump from underground. Using the clump of earth, I use shape manipulation on the clump by using my chakra as a tool to carve out the form I want. It forms into the shape of a kunai I know so well. After creating the earth kunai, I pick it up and hold it in my hand.

I dig a tunnel all the way to where I saw your clone earlier, emerging beneath him, and begin to tickle him mercilessly. The tortue I inflict on your clone is as deadly as poison.

I catch the large piece of earth, then slam it onto the ground, breaking it apart into more manageable pieces. I then take one of the larger pieces, and channel my earth chakra into it. As I do this, I pull the earth outwards, elongating it into the shape of the staff. I continue to use my chakra to scult the shape of a staff. After I have a nice staff shape, I focus more chakra into it, condensing the dirt, making the staff harder and more stable.

(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane

Like in the description, you can throw it towards you opponent, and even create multiple staffs at once to throw them at your opponent.

Let's move on to C-Ranked techniques.

I want you to begin this technique by making the Rat handseal while you release earth chakra into the ground. Then, by focusing the chakra into the two slabs of earth, I want you to begin to control them. I want you to move them to the left and right of my clone, and then slam them both together, destroying my clone. Focus hard on the movement of the earth and make it happen relatively fast so my clone cannot escape it easily.

I want you to then begin to dig into the earth, going far into the ground. As you dig, I want you to make the earth behind you, where you have previously traveled through, collapse on itself, closing off the tunnel and returning it to its normal state. While you are in the tunnel, I want you to focus in on the chakra that you released into the ground, using it to sense where my clone is, and take him out from below.

Good. My clone would have been dead if it wasn't for the fact he was made of wood, which is strong against doton(Fact of the day).

Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target

Now. I want you to begin building up a large amount of Earth chakra into your hand, and then by slamming it into the ground in front of you release the chakra and utilize it to make the ground begin to shake violently. This should cause my clone to fall over due to the tremor you would create.

Note: You don't have to slam your hand on the ground during an actual battle, but for the sake of training, I'm going to make you do so.
