yes brains are important, especially when fighting one who analyzes fights and who is strategic. this isnt anything we've seen from Madara! He's all about power and throwing everything out there and hasnt shown any logic behind his decisions. In order to defeat him one only needs power to combat him, while using brains would give an EDGE.

mentioning power scale just cancels the thought that they would only demonstrate the same things as before. Yes, everyones power would improve but that not our concern here (3rd Hokage)

Madara hasnt had a need to use a whole lot of brains in his fight because he has no way of dying.

And saying it's nothing we've seen from madara is completely wrong because if that were true he would have been sealed already. But he used a wood clone an saved himself because he THOUGHT ahead(in other words used his brain). Orochimaru perfect, Kabuto only mastered them being able to keep a portion of their conscious, which has backfired more than once (Sasori and Sai's brother) that's the only mastery he accomplished over Oro with Edo

Power scale has a lot to do with it, as they were restricted/limited power limits before.
