I think it was suppose to be used when Naruto fought Sasuke. Cause one of them would say 'Protect Konoha' so then the bird would come out and it was triggered for Itachi's eyes. Which Sasuke would have so I would make him want to protect Konoha. Itachi believes that Naruto can talk sense in to Sasuke since he cannot.

Yeah, it was meant to be used on Sasuke.

He used it on Edo Tensei. I believe it depends on what you use it on - if Itachi had used it on himself instead of Edo Tensei, I believe that Itachi would have killed Sasuke right on the spot.

Edit: I also believe that the jutsu wears off. I'm not really sure.

I am reading it. I am pretty sure it's meant for Sasuke. It's trigger to work with his eyes. and Sasuke has Itachi's eyes.

But Izanami stopped Edo Tensei. And if Kabuto gets out of it.
I doubt he'd even wanna destroy the leaf after that.

He means when the crow got Itachi out of Edo Tensei. I don't think KA is very powerful if you know about it. Remember when Mifune was under it. As soon as he was told he was being manipulated by KA, he was no longer affected by it. Maybe if you know you are under KA the jutsu loses its power.

The command was protect konoha, and the technique did so by releasing Itachi. That's it. It's done. The purpose of the technique was over at that instant. Remember Mifune. He snapped out of KA after he appointed danzo the leader. For itachi to kill sasuke, he had to be put in KA one more time.
