Doesn't Naruto being special defeat the purpose?

Originally I loved Naruto because he was the despised underdog. Yet regardless of being shunned and seemingly having no natural talent he worked his butt off. No matter how strong the natural genius Sasuke got, Naruto wasn't far behind.

So at first Naruto just had a bunch of chakra which wasn't much of a deal. Then we found out about the fox. Naruto was saved by the fox on a few occasions but he became stronger through his own strength. He even stopped using the fox and progressed. I thought Kishi was showing us that we could get far with hard work.

Then suddenly oh wait Naruto gets training from a legendary sannin. Okay some help to speed up things. Oh Naruto learns sage mode thanks to the toad. He really got fast track training. That is equivalent to a dyslexic kid getting 1 to 1 high priced special education.... kishi... you're pushing it.

Oh wait Naruto is also the son of the 4th hokage and he left him the fox and seal. Oh Naruto can only beat the bad guys if he learns to use the foxes power combined with his own. Lets face it all the strongest characters now are special some way so it defeats the purpose of just hard work. The only exception I can think of is Kabuto but even he picked up a guys(orochimaru) lifetime of research.

I disagree with your logic, yes Naruto started out with basically nothing and that made him intriguing. However, his overcoming adversity and reaching the top is the story. Would you have preferred he remain a nobody? The storyline would've gone nowhere then...

The only one that's a valid hard worker would be Minato. He truly was a nobody. Unless stated otherwise.

What about Hiruzen? He learned all of the Konoha jutsus and got the "Professor" name all by himself.

I would prefer if he didn't need the foxes power and wasn't son of the hokage.

We already knew about the fox and the 4th from an early point in the story, the only OP power up hes gotten is sage mode, and even that isnt as bad as all the uchiha power ups, sasukes gunna end up like majin boo

Sage mode is fine since it's his own mode and has time limitations. It's the fox fusioin that is op.

Valid question..
Yet Naruto being the Lead character, what would you expect?
His Dream is to be Hokage, he suffered pain, lost so much, trained hard.. Further Kyubii was pain in a** as well, no other person were able to tame 9 tails and yet with Hard work Naruto finally got through to Kyubii.. I like the way the story progressed.
Seems like you wanted Naruto to remain as a Kid and Never grow up.. I have a solution for ya, Just re-watch pre-shippuden series time and again.. All your Desires will be fulfilled..

There have been plenty of hosts for Kurama, but Naruto was the only one able to control it to such an extent. There have been many people trying to master Sage Mode, but Naruto was the only one who perfected it (or at least, one of the only ones). Jiraiya personally choose Naruto to train because he saw shining qualities in him. Naruto's key to mastering the Rasengan in such a short period of time, and secret to the last step of creating Futon: Rasenshuriken, came from his own intelligence/mock genius.

He was able to accomplish all these feats because he had the goal of becoming Hokage, felt mental pain at having Jiraiya killed, to live out his dream of bringing Sasuke back... etc. This shows that he has a goal in sight and definitely works for them, but using his own ninja way too. Being "special" really wasn't the key to all of it; it was himself.

The fox should have been taken out of Naruto like with Gaara. Then Naruto should just have gotten by on his own.

He was special, yes, but he had to work extremely hard without complete control over the 9-Tails, and he never learned about his parents until recently.

He has trained and progressed as the underdog ever since the manga begun, and now it is time for him to show off his strength sine the manga is at its 'climax'.

well to be fair when naruto was training with bee; on the island it took him a good bit of time to use the nine tail fox at max power, timing, balance power, not as easy as you say it
