1. I don't think I need to say much here, he wanted Sasuke to kill him and return to Konoha as a hero. Didn't work.
2. He never wanted anyone to find out the truth about the Uchiha. Didn't work.
3. He tried to save people by getting rid of Madara. Didn't work.

I actually like how Kishi broke down Itachi's character. It allowed us to understand Itachi's thoughts and emotions. I don't think Itachi was a failure ; he was shown to be human.

If Tsunade somehow stops Madara, then technically Itachi will be succesful, because with Edo Tensei is gone, Dan could Save Tsunade. You can connects the dots.

If i learn one thing from this manga, anything can change anytime. People were saying Kabuto was strongest because of Edo Tensei, well now Madara because he is free of restrictions, next week it may be tenten.

I saw your other thread, and I think you're getting a bit too worked up over this. The thing about Naruto, you see, is that it isn't real, and at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the message you get from it.

He did stop the Edo Tensei. Itachi didn't fail just because ONE
of the Edo's evaded his fate. This is a better outcome, because now they
can focus on the one or two bad guys versus having to waste their
energy on all of those fodder ninja and only be 50% prepared by the
time it comes down to fighting the big guys. You can't blame Itachi for
not knowing about this - was he even aware the Madara had been revived?

Secondly, if Itachi's last words have caused Sasuke to stop and think
about what he's going to do next. There is a very high chance that those
last words are going to effect the outcome of the war. Everyone knows
that eventually Sasuke will switch to the good side, so why are you so
adamant in your belief that Itachi is a failure?
