Itachi clearly knew Tobi. He refers to him as Tobi for the first time (afaik) in chapter 490.

Probably saw his face before as well, since he anticipated him taking off his mask.

And since he must have seen his face yet didn't let Sasuke see Tobi, I'm assuming Itachi is better at genjutsu than Tobi.
