They didn't want people to know that Naruto is the 9 tails jinchuriki. Everyone knew that the 9 tails was sealed inside of the son of the 4th Hokage. If people knew he was the son of the 4th then everyone would know that Naruto has the 9 tails.

he knew because for one, they look alike
kakashi probably knew who minato was dating, and uzumaki, and naruto is an uzumaki, and there wasn't a lot of them in the village
kakashi probably knew she had the nine tails and probably could make the connection. the fourth was great at seals, so the nine tails being sealed in naruto would be a big hint. Alos, the large chakra reserve resembled his mom. he had his mom face but his dad hair too.

and if kakashi knew some others knew like the 3rd.

Ofcourse kakashi knew he was the 4ths son, almost everyone did besides the kids of the village. After what happened the third hokage made it a rule not to speak of thrones nine tails incident or that Naruto is the jinchuriki(or that the 4th was narutos father). That's also why Narutos name is Naruto uzumaki instead of Naruto kamikaze. He was unknowingly forced to have his mothers name so it wouldn't arose suspicion that he was the 4ths son. It explained all of this in the show/manga

not talking about the kyuubi makes perfect sense, but everyone in the village knew this "secret"... not talking about his parents after that revelation becomes pointless, don't you think? U_U

naruto would believe because of him his father and mother died.. how would he feel about about that,, problably turn emo or something. hahaha

People knew the fourth sealed 9tails in his son. In order to keep people from coming after the 9tails it was kept quiet . Hence him having his moms last name instead of his fathers.And also to keep people from being afraid of naruto .
