Just read about this insight on one of China's main dog selling meat market and thought it would be interesting to share it with you lot. As much as its sickening and disturbing for us we can't really say much since its their culture and apparently meat is meat, which is fair enough.

Shocking images show carcasses piled high at Yulin in the Guangxi Zhuang region, which is known for its dog meat trade. Eager buyers include local families and restaurant owners who use dog in regional stew dishes.

HUNDREDS of dead dogs are hacked up and sold as meat after being skinned at one of China’s sickening street markets.

Shocking images show carcasses piled high at Yulin in the Guangxi Zhuang region, which is known for its dog meat trade.

Eager buyers include local families and restaurant owners who use dog in regional stew dishes.

The innocent animals are picked up alive and driven to market crammed into tiny cages before being slaughtered.

China is one of only eleven countries left in the world where eating dog meat is legal and still socially acceptable.

Dog flesh is relied upon across the country as an emergency food source when other grub is scarce.

But there are increasing protests against the practice - driven largely by a growing Chinese middle-class who keep dogs as pets.

i wasn't raised there.

I don't think I could ever bring myself to eat dog meat.
It just doesn't seem worth the killing of a dog or a cat for their meat.

They barely have any meat in their bodies, anyway. Nothing compared to a cow or deer, at least.

Well... thanks for sharing.
I'm guessing here but majority would have something "racist" to say about this.

It's sad, but like you stated it's probably part of their "meat is meat" thing.
Similar to how the Japanese eat Dolphins etc.

I dont think I could ever either. The most weird meat I've ever had was a deer one.

Yeah fair enough to them. Also reason I say to stop using any racist comments is because in the past threads about Chinese or any other far Eastern culture didn't particularly end well.

If a dog would eat me without any second thoughts, why can't i eat it?

Fish, Chicken, Cow, Goat are all treated the same way...Why are dogs so important?

In a communist country where people are struggling to survive you eat whatever you can get. You may look down on it now, but reach the breaking point where your on the edge of starvation and Fido will start looking pretty tasty.

Also, that picture looks faked. Every single dog is in the exact same position, with the exact same facial expression, and I have been a hunter my entire life, and have skinned many animals, and that is not what an animal looks like with its skin removed.

Oh shit! Truthfully though, I see no reason why dogs > other animals. At least, if you're saying this is wrong, you shouldn't be eating other animals. If you eat other animals, why is this wrong to you?

Cultural differences are hard to accept for everyone. I think this is as much the case for this particular "issue" (or topic for that matter).

All in all, it's hard to digest (ha, pun).

Yup. I agree, which is fair enough to them.

Like Wesobi said, "Cultural differences are hard to accept for everyone" but they are what they are.
I do know that in India, the hindus believe that eating a cow is wrong because they find them sacred, they love them more than we love dogs so imagine how they feel about us eating hamburgers or cow meat. They probably see it with disgust. Just how we see this culture as disgusting for eating a dog.

We're all so different. It's how we were raised and our beliefs.
