How Did Hashirama die?

Hashirama Senju is by far, Konoha's strongest Kage and the strongest Shinobi next to the Sage of the Six Paths. He defeated EMS Madara Uchiha, who clearly needed the kyuubi's help to defeat Hashirama and destroy Konoha. He defeated and captured all of the roaming tailed beasts with his own power: the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai. Hashirama' name and clan was renowned and feared throughout the ninja world.

And yet...

He was killed during the 1st Shinobi World War, the same war that killed Tobirama Senju.

How was that even possible? What power or incident could've killed Shodai Hokage?

Well tobirama was killed by 20 elite jonin from the cloud. He was in a weakened state so it was unfair

Hashirama however is assumed to have died in battle. Maybe he faced 10000+ shinobi like third raikage or all the villages used the tailed beasts that he gave them to use them against him. Many possibilities.
