Just something I've always wondered. The world spends thousands of years in technological darkness, then all of a sudden, in less than half a century practically, it's swarming with new developments.

How does that happen? What caused it? What would you say the first major step was?

I know electricity played a major role; electricity wasn't invented either, merely harnessed. So what was preventing us from doing so earlier? Sure, other things developed more slowly, like firearms, but the most advanced things were almost immediate. A computer is a lot harder to make than a gun, but it took guns a long time to be developed whereas the computer popped up in no time.

Also, do you believe that modern technology has truly been a help, or has it been a downfall. That may seem wierd, but I've talked to plenty of people that think modern tech is a bad thing (there's also the Amish who certainly think so). Automobiles have allowed the world's population to increase dramatically, medicine has allowed people to live which also increases population, and things like heating and refrigeration have allowed people to live in areas they wouldn't normally be able to, which also increases population to some extent.

Also, is there anything else to add to this?

it is exponential growth. when new medicine and certain modern facilities came about the human population grew like anything and ppl in the industrial revoluton and such used these human resiurces as much as possible and so worldwide change could happen faster.

also increase in population is not always a bad thing. it raised competition for people to survive and be well off. thus more people became educated and competed to bring new things into the world and other technologies like cars and planes helped things be more accessible to people and made things wide spread.

There are many reasons and i dont feel like going into all of them but in general humans have period of great achievements and progress like the renaissance and also periods of slow growth such as the dark ages

It was Mr Nicola Tesla who jumpstarted modern technology by far.

Mr Tesla = Practicaly invented everything wat we see today.

Mr Tesla was first person in human history , who build a device for artificial lightning = Raiton mastered.

Also Mr Tesla was winner in the war of the currents = Edison lost.

Mr Tesla , was like Rikudo Sennin type of character.

Founder and Creator of Modern Ninjutsu = Founder and Creator of Modern technology.

I rest my case.

ppl you can look up Mr Nicola Tesla = he truly was a god like figure.

I completely agree that Tesla was the one you gave it the biggest push, but he's hardly recognized today simply because Edison had more business smarts. Edison stole everything from Tesla who wasn't wise enough to protect what he had; so the shrewd Edison ran off with it all.

Tesla was a great man, and if he had of succeeded we'd probably be a lot more advanced than we are now. However, once again, greed and arrogance stepped in front of progress, so Edison took much of the fame and trampled down what would have been.

Tesla lost nothing to Edison. He lost it to the damn French -_-;; True story

Edison made stuff that was more main stream but Tesla made technology that allowed the whole world to be powered by electricity.

Also this for the internet:

Yep, there's only a handfull of people that will really understand that video. lol It's a good thing I already do, eh?

Actually, Tesla wanted to make energy free; he wanted everyone to be able to use it with no charge. He wasn't thinking like a business man, he was thinking more about progress and didn't have time for foolish things like money; but he didn't understand the concept of C.R.E.A.M. (cash rules everything around me). Thus, he failed. :(

We've been using Technology for a long time...In human years at-least...

Its just that our most significant technological advancement is electricity/fire(meh)...

Electricity made everything easy because you could manipulate it in a variety of ways, this almost seems to have given light to a New World...

Who knows how it happened or when we started using such complex tools.. Maybe that is the result of the first humans finally getting over the fear of lightning, maybe we stopped being ignorant and started studying our surrounds more, maybe we were jump-started by some outside force(aliens)

I really wished we'd unlock better stuff than just complexity though...

The damage done to the Earth is the result of our greed, electrical technology has made things such as building a car easy, so we create, Mass-produce unnecessarily...But technology has its goodness to it, we have Microwaves,Kool-Aid,Hot-plates,magic bullet, rotisserie, hash oil...

Really important stuffz....

I'm actually curious to know if people really believe this (I'm not being sarcastic, I'd really like a show of hands on this). Also, I'd be hesitant to ever tell scientists that all their hard work just...came from aliens. :D

Well, the most destructive thing is nuclear technology. It was developed because of war, but does the most damage in times of peace. I think we can all look at what's happening in Japan and see just how stupid it was for us to ever come up with such a thing. Yes, in the end, greed will be our downfall.

:lmao: I totally like that last part! You ain't ShishaMastah for nothin'! However, you forgot refrigeration man, that gives us this :ice: for starters. ;)

Okay, so we have another for the Ancient Aliens theory...I had no idea that so many people considered it plausible. At the risk of sounding like Mr. Spock, I have to say that's rather fascinating.

He never failed. He was just too far ahead of his time.

@ Train.

Tesla did in fact have an unfinished way for free energy.

And it was Teslas Dream , to give all that energy too every living person on world.

But he lacked resources and supporters to bring it into fruition.

But hes Idea was brilliant and beautifull.

With hes technology , that we have currently and is improved alot , this thing could be highly possible.

Imagine if we had free energy from the 30's ?

I bet we would be doing Galactic travelling by now lol.

Yes, I agree that it was a funding problem; however, exactly who would ever invest in the idea of making free energy? Making something that's free which could be used to make so much money would be the worst business strategy in history... ;)
