Now that i think about it, the color of Rin's hair is red(characteristics of Uzumaki clan) like here for example:
I know people will actually say it's not always the case and will talk about Gaara for example, but notice that we thought the same about Karin, but later we've heard she was from Uzumaki clan.
Curiously before that we didn't knew her family name, and it's the same with Rin. We don't know her family name also.
Furthermore, Karin was a medical ninja, and Rin was a medical ninja too and she was 12/13 the last time we met her in Kakashi's gaiden. Being medical ninja at a young age like that is not that easy. You must be really skilfull, control your chakra perfectly well. Just look right now. Ninjas at that age who are medical ninjas are really rare. I remember Kabuto(Orochimaru was even impressed by the fact he can use it at this young age). Sakura also but she wasn't that good at that time(Tsunade was helping her). The only people i remember at least. So you can't learn it that easily, but she was actually a medical ninja at such a young age and at that time. And it's not even sure someone thought her that(Minato is not a medical ninja

So maybe it was her talent like Karin for example. If it's the case, then it's again a similarity. Maybe she even a sensor too?(we can't know though)
Anyway i'm not saying she was from the Uzumaki clan, but it could be a great possibility, i think.
PS: For those who say Rin's hair color is brown, then we must also say the same with Nagato, but he was actually an Uzumaki. I think there are different types of red. They are not forced to be the same. Personally i don't see a difference in hair color between Nagato and Rin. Just take a look:
