Naruto: Ka-Kaeruzan! Kaeruzan!
Kaeruzan:*fading* N-Naruto...
Naruto:*desperatly* Kaeruzan, please! No!
Kaeruzan:*coughing* I'm... sorry... kid.
Naruto:*crying* Don't go! What will I do without you?!
Kaeruzan:*voice fading* Go... to the top drawer... of my closet... Forgive me... Naruto...
That was was when Kaeruzan closed his eyes. His heavy breathing and coughing had stopped, and he lied motionless, around Naruto's arms that held him up and his walking stick had disappeared. He looked even more peaceful than usual, like everytime he sat on top of the rock, waiting for his student every morning. Every memory of the time they had spent together, flashed in an instant through Naruto's mind, remembering the day he had met the toad, the walking stick... Death had taken yet another person he treasured. Naruto remembered the day Tsunade told him that Jiraiya had died. He felt powerless, unable to protect those he cared about. And yet another person that had recognized him, seen him as something else than a monster, had drawn his last breath in his own arms. The tears fell across Naruto's face as they had so many times. Kaeruzan's last words came to his mind.
Naruto:*to himself* Top drawer... closet...
He looked back and saw it. The big wooden closet that had always been there. Naruto ran at it leaving Kaeruzan's body carefully on the ground. He reached the top drawer his mind wondering what he would find there. He pulled the drawer open and pulled out an envelope with the word Naruto on it. Naruto's heart was pumping fastly as he opened the envelope and pulled out the letter that was inside. It had the toad's handwriting on it.
Naruto:*reading to himself* Naruto, if you have found this letter it's because I have passed away... I'm sorry for disappointing you, and not being able to continue our training. There's something not even the most skilled fighter in the world can escape. The passing of time. My old age has caught up with me, and I have left you alone... Please forgive me kid. But I have always been a toad that plans things in advance, and is always one step ahead of things. I felt my that my time in this world was coming to an end so I decided to write this letter for you Naruto. I'm afraid I didn't have the courage to say it to your face, and destroy that will and determination you have shown in our training. Forgive me for my cowardness kid.
I will reveal you the location of a secret scroll that has been passed down in my family. In that scroll you will find the secrets to master at least some of the power of that sword. You will have to train on your own now. After I wrote this letter, I hid the scroll inside a coffin, in my family's graveyard. You'll have to dig out the coffin, and open it. The scroll will be there. I only have one request for you. Please bury me in my ancestor's graveyard, inside the coffin that contains the scroll.
Naruto, the path is set in front of you. Good luck.
Naruto put the letter back inside the envelope and walked up to Kaeruzan's body. The tears were falling down his cheeks, as he thought about all the things the toad had left for him. Even beyond his death, the toad found a way to train him.
He put the toad's body on his shoulder and ran out of the house without looking back. He got to the place Kaeruzan had told him about in the letter and saw it. The small graveyard where all the descendants of Myobokuzan were burried... Every grave had a small stick and a rock with the toad's name. After looking for a moment, Naruto saw it. His master's walking stick that he had seen so many times. He walked slowly to it, and understood what he had to do. The name on the rock was Kaeruzan.
Naruto put the body on the ground and began digging the hole, and after his hands hit a solid wooden surface, he pulled out the coffin and opened it. It was there. The old looking scroll that Kaeruzan had told him about was there. Naruto took it out and slowly put the toad's body inside.
He wiped the tears from his face and looked respectfully at his dead master. He was peaceful as always.
Naruto: Goodbye... Sensei...
Naruto closed the wooden coffin and burried it inside the hole that was open. He picked up the scroll and walked back to the wooden caban, without looking back.
What secrets hides the mysterious scroll? Will Naruto succeed in training on his own?
