what are the advantages/disadvantages or differences between all the kinds of clones? like how are shadow. water, sand. bug clones different from each other?

I have often wondered about this and if there is a big difference in them (i.e. how much damage they can take). I think somewhere there was a type of clone that had like a higher durability than a shadow clone not sure about it though.

I'd say some may be more durable than others, maybe. Like mud clones would be stronger than water clones. And lightning clones are hands down the best clones. When the enemy strikes them they turn into lightning and electrocute him.

Shadow clones split chakra equally so you cant differentiate between the clone and real thing, even with a byakugan.
Those other clones use an element as the source of creating the clone so the clone doesn't use as much chakra, but dojutsu's would be able to tell if it is a clone because it is partly made from an element.

i never knew their advantages, but i believe clone are clones, its just that while shadow clones can launch physical attacks and disappear when beat,
lightning clone like kakashi has done can launch a lightning attack even after been beat, instead of just disappearing like the shadow clones

i also believe bug clone have this feature

each clone serves a different purpose. clones like mud clones, lightning clones, sand clones are really used to substitute for the toll shadow clones take on your chakra

good question. i think the durablility results from the user, and/or what the purpose is. most cases they are used as a diversion so once they have succeeded they let them fade. Its been stated they can feel and sense the difference in clone or real. not sure the different effects though.

Shadow clones disperse chakra equally, and they can't be discerned by even the byakugan. their durability depends on the chakra in the bunshin, km clones for example don't disperse upon impact, nor to the clones of their clones, even when hit by madara's susanoo. on the other hand, when naruto makes hundreds, its very easy to kill them off.

other bunshin have specific qualities, but they're always weaker than the original (zabuza's was only 10% strong for example). they cost much less chakra too
karasu bunshin (itachi's)- genjutsu abilities, disperse into clones to blind the opponent
mizu bunshin (kisame)- trap opponents in water
raikiri bunshin (kakashi)- electrocute upon impact (the best imo)
suna bunshin (gaara)- trap the opponent when hit

what I haven't gotten is Hashirama's mokuton bunshin, as the sharingan usually sees through bunshin, but only madara could differentiate hashirama's mokuton bunshin from the original. was hashirama made out of mokuton? :D

also, the rinnegan probably has less insight abilities than the byakugan and the sharingan, from what i've observed, although it outstrips those two in its other abilities by far.

Clone technique - This is most basic technique one can learn and is normally the first technique ninjas learn.. It simply makes a duplicate of what you wish, but it can't attack really..

Shadow clone - More advanced form of the clone technique, that creates a duplicates that all have evenly distributed chakra.. Thus making it impossible for doujutsu and sensors to distinguish them apart.. These clones can attack, use jutsu, and even use the shadow clone jutsu again

----From the shadow clone their are different variations that can be made by infusing elements into them or using certain tricks..

If you infuse the shadow clone with lightning elements, If the opponent unknowingly attacks it in melee range, it will revert to the infused element state and shock the person

Water clones are made out of water , but I don't think they have evenly distributed chakra

Some clones are simply used because they take less chakra from the user.. Chakra is essential to ninjas and some just can't waste it on a normal shadow clone jutsu, which making 1 splits your chakra 50 50..

Water clone I guess would be one that falls under the chakra saving category..
Itachi's crow clone as stated by the databook, since it uses crows as a medium saves him chakra
Sand clone etc also

Nice sig lol.

Well a lightning clone electrocuted sasuke but a shadow clone can not.

Water clones can be manipulated using water jutsu.

Sand clones can do this (sand grave no jutsu).

Wood clones can do that (extended wood arm, laugh it up, no jutsu).

Well the manga did state that water clones are only 1/10 of the original strength it depends some clones a more durable to hits and better for environmental techniques.

The Earth, Bug, and Sand clones can reform from taking damage. The Wood clone doesn't disappear after just one hit. The Ink clone are harder to see through as they have actual mass and substance.

All elemental clones are just shadow clones with a specific element infused with them/so all elemental clones share the same drawbacks as shadow clones. when lightning clones are destroyed they electrocute whatever they are touching because when destroyed the clones turn into the infused chakra element instead of a cloud of smoke. So there are endless combos that can be used with elemental clones that depend on the the users abilitys. For example punching a mud clone and getting your hand stuck in mud xd

Advantages can very depending on the element is infused but advantages all share are that there is another one of you to attack your opponent/can use your jutsu/create a diversion/cannot be recognized by doujutsu. Disadvantage your chakra is spread evenly between your clones making your chakra disappear faster/and multi shadow clones techs were labeled forbidden because they overused the users chakra which could cause death.

first off, why do u write in green?

and how can crow clones save chakra? i can understand how water and sand clones save chakra because there might be water and sand near by, but unless itachi has crows in his pockets, shouldnt it cost more chakra to make crows and then make them into clones?
