Since Tsukoyomi is a close range attack and need's a direct eye contact,it is possible for a ninja who has strong Long range attack to keep the user at bay, specially someone with High lvl wind Jutsu wich works as offence and defense at the same time,Like Kakuzu and Temari for example, if user can not get close he can not cast the jutsu.

True but what about if the user is someone like sasuke or itachi were they too also have extremely good long range attacks.... sasuke especially.

HE can't cast Tsukiyomi with his finger, he can only cast a far weaker genjutsu. And Madara did not use Tsukiyomi on A.

Anyways, to answer your question, obviously the only way to defeat a Tsukiyomi user is to avoid eye contact. This can be done as how Gai proposed, by looking at the feet, or by providing another source of sight, like Nagato's shared vision or Gaara's third eye, or if you're a sensor by closing your eyes and sensing Itachi's movements, sorta like Kabuto (except he actually had a small genjutsu-proof film that he could still see through. But otherwise, there isn't anything that can be directly done to defeat it once you're under it.

What is this about kabuto having a genjutsu proof film?

Also yeah tsukuyomi is short in the real world anyway so it is hard to fight against it before it is over.

Sasuke can break out of Tsukoyomi,he did it once, he can do it again, and if you talk about defense, then he has absolute defense in the form of Susanoo covered with Amaterasu, which will prevent the user to get too close.

Other then that only guy's method will work while fighting in close combat, but to beat a Tsukoyomi user in 1vs1 fight, one must avoid getting to close as much as possible, it can become a fatal mistake.

Well , the 1 basic thing is to avoid eye contact..Though without training, you may end up messing up, since making eye contact is the norms habit of a person. ... Which is why raikage still got caught in Madara's genjutsu

Lets see, ways to fight it,
Any ninja who knows how to use Kirigakure mist jutsu, can put it up and have a reasonable defence against Genjutsu.. though it's not a sound proof plan..

There are probably a few other ways but I can't think of any right now
