Why so many (Character #1) vs. (Character #2) Threads lately?

Is there really a reason to compare these characters all the time? And when people do compare, why do people always have one of the characters do a one-shot or a chain of moves causing instant victory?

I know that it's fun to see who's the best and I'm curious as well but some of these threads are just ridiculous. I know everyone has favorites and everyone has someone that want to be the best but in all honesty, nobody except for Kishi can determine who is the G.O.A.T. of the Shinobi world and can beat who. Each fight is different; different environment and different scenarios.

Now unless Kishi decides to make a Databook 4 with the most accurate information possible (Naruto is 14.5 in Databook 1 and Neji is a 21, doesn't really make sense how Naruto even got close to beating him), then we can't really know who is better.
