If he did survive they probably would have found a way to keep him alive and he probably would have unlocked the Mangekyou if Rin still died. Still don't think he'd of been better than Kakashi. Kakashi was probably better than half the Uchiha were with the sharingan while Obito was an Uchiha reject. Look, I like Obito, but he couldn't properly dodge a boulder with his whereas Kakashi had mastered the Chidori within 30 seconds of having it.
