A very bad attempt using GIMP for the first or second time xD anyone want to direct me to some good tutorials?

Note: It's very basic because I don't really know what I'm doing yet :3

Hey, one question for anyone reading this. I can't seem to get the layer window up (on the right side of this video). Can anyone help me with that? >.>. I should also note I'm using a newer version of GIMP from that video.

Looks nice, but yeah I hardly use gimp, since I have always been using PS, so I probably wont be of any help

the 2nd looks bad.

I don't know about gimp smudge tutorials since i only use photoshop but you need one.
Just search on google for sth that looks nice to you and try it out

I don't want to sound mean with this but if you are atempting a technique you've never done before ALWAYS start by following a tutorial. It makes things a lot easier and helps you understand how to do the a lot quicker!

well i have no idea how to work with gimp but here i did a google search about sig tutorials and came up with this :

also it looks like you tried smudge up there so well i tried googling again and:
