In your opinion, what death was the most hurtful to see. I don't like choosing because both of them were sad deaths. I choose Asuma Sarutobi. He died young in his life compare to his dad. He probably had potential to be a bigger inspiration in the future. He also had a child with Kurenai that he will never be able to see. What about you, who's death brought more grief to the story between these two characters?

definitely asuma, but its more because of shikamaru's reaction than the actual death

Asuma had further character development in my opinion, therefore his death was more painful to witness rather than Hiruzens.

Asuma, you did a good job is listing reasons why his death was worse.

Hiruzen was a sad old man that had it coming sooner or later. No intention of insulting Hiruzen fans, he is just my least favorite hokage.

Honestly... I don't very emotional from reading stuff... but if I had to pick , it would be Asuma caus he wasn't so old and he left behind his futur kid, Kurenai and a bunch of ppl who looked up to him.

But then again, the whole village looked up to Hiruzen for being the legend he is...

True, but you have to remember a whole village cried because their leader died protecting them.

Why do people tend to dislike Hiruzen? He's one of my favs, one of the best and one of the most underestimated.

eh, it was after the fact

say hiruzen just died, then out of no where jman[assume were already familiar with his character] shows up , finds his sensei's broken body, and sheds one manly tear while bitting his lip hard enough to draw a little blood, and screams in dismal anguish and inconsolable despair while it begins to rain

then hiruzens death beats asumas

I dislike him because of him Naruto had a way sadder childhood than it should have been. He let Itachi kill his whole clan and take all the blame consequently ruining Sasuke's life. Also i think he is overestimated by many. The whole "god" of shinobi thing as well and him sealing Hashirama and Tobirama away :(

Well it was raining that day. Everyone went dressed black. Some mourn his death, others were extremely sad. I just think he died very early in the story, unlike asuma.

Definitely Asuma.... It was sad to see a splendid shinobi that had alot of potential (way more than his father) die like that.... And the thing is, his death could have been avoided if proper measures were taken

lol when i bring in the rain im setting the mood of hiruzens death, not his funeral

true he didnt have much character development, but that cant really be helped, people are gonna feel how theyre gonna feel because asuma was around longer

Hiruzen U_U his death seemed less dramatic because his character was less devellopped, but just by looking at it, Asuma left behind his wife, son, few friends, his pupils (3)

Hiruzen was family to the entire village , nuff said imo, because all the people asuma's deathaffected, are affected by Hiruzen's ( cept the baby) but you have to add the entire rest of the village to Hiruzen, it also gave rise to Tsunade's reign which lot sf people don't like around here -_- and allowed Orochimaru to survive thus getting Sasuke a rogue, killing Itachi, allowing Nagato to destroy the leaf...

Asuma... More than anything it was shikamarus reaction... Remember after the shogi game with his father? That was one of the most sad moments in naruto, EVER.

I think Asuma just lost more than Hiruzen. I liked him when i was a small boy, but now i have dislikes towards Hiruzen. Asuma was a cool guy that was killed off by psycho man.
