Nagato could not even walk right and he was fighting bee and Naruto as well. If his legs were healthy and he could run like the deva path when deva was fighting the six tails than he would without a doubt defeat Itachi. I love Itachi and all and he would by no means go down easily, but the match would end with nagatos victory.

LOL actually David beat Goliath And we've seen people in Naruto who generally were weaker than their opponents, beating those stronger guys. So Itachi has a chance

I just realized this when re-reading the part when Itachi got out of Kabuto's control and fought Nagato who was fully controlled by Kabuto. He blinded Nagato's summons and found a way to defeat Chibaku Tensei. Itachi even helped Naruto and B break free from Nagato, both are helpless and could have been killed if it weren't for Itachi's presence. Finally, he was the one who sealed Nagato. So I do believe that Itachi could be a very difficult opponent for Nagato and has chances of beating him.xd

If you reread it than you would also realize that Nagato could not even run! He was a sitting duck for Itachis sword. Not to mention Nagato was fighting B and Naruto at the same time. Even being immobile he still gave them a extremely difficult time. Your right though Itachi is smart and did save them from chibaku and Nagatos grasp but without the other 2 Itachi would have lost even while Nagato was immobile. If Nagato was mobile and could run and what not, fighting Itachi alone would not be a problem. Difficult opponent, yes i will give Itachi that but defeat him no, thats not gonna happen.
And if it was the six paths of pein than even a bigger no.

Nagato was immobile. He couldnt even walk on his own. And if he was actually fighting Itachi he would have used shinra tensei right when he sensed it. Just like bee through his sword to make Itachi stop.

but theres something everyone forgets to realize is that if they both square off.. what's faster? CT or itachi's genjutsu
and even if itachi gets caught in the CT and is about to get crushed by the rocks, his full susano'o shield can repel everything and also the only reason itachi didn't use it on kabuto is becuz he didn't want to kill him.

Naruto had to resort (involuntarily) to his Tailed-Beast in order to destroy Chibaku Tensei. Itachi only had to use Yasaka Magatama combined with B's and Naruto's jutsu. You never know the full capacity of Itachis' Yasaka Magatama because as stated in the wiki: "The size of the created projectiles are dependent upon the user's intent and situation, with smaller variations often used when fighting in close quarters or confined spaces." You don't know if Itachi only gave way for B and Naruto so he wouldn't fully steal the spotlight and credit. As we all know, Itachi always underrates himself.

Ok even if Nagato gets hit with Amatarasu what happens....it burns for a few seconds....then he brushes it off with Deva Path Ability like he did in the manga...

or he just absorbs it with Preta Path ability......

Itachi's ONLY chance is to hit him with Tsukuyomi at the start of the fight...

Nagato wins 90% of the time....
