I thought a lot about the "moons eye plan" recently. we all know that kishi likes to pick up elements of buddhism in the story, like the six paths of pain or nagatos philosophy that life is only pain. now, tobi wants to bring peace to the world with a permanent genjutsu, which creates an absolute illusion and eradicates every dream and everyones personality. for me that sounds pretty similar to nirvana, explained in buddhism. nirvana is reached, when you don't produce karma anymore and become one with everything, wich basicely means that you eradicate the idea of your personality. in buddhism nirvana is the goal of everyone, it's a bit like the paradise of the christians. it is also said that the few people who actually are able to reach this spot of purity shouldn't just selfishly enter nirvana, they should remain in the human world and help others to achieve, what they achieved too. So, is Tobi actually the good guy of the story? I am not buddhist, so I am no expert and can only rely on what I read but it just caught my eye. I apologize for the mistakes but english isn't my native language. Hope you think of it and comment. if you think it is complete rubbish, go and eat an apple.
