You're trolling the sound 4. It's a common condition. By "almost killed" you mean got raped (by the way those two guys had ftg which puts them on Asuma's level). When Asuma was soloing that was when rank started to deteriorate. When a Konoha jonin solos nine sound chunin in a second that means ranks are used to show how strong others are-- this guy can beat so many chunin so he's strong-- instead of actually meaning something.

Now I addressed hype but also when we go by actual feats it's clear any of the sound 4 could solo Asuma. Jirobo crushes him with a boulder, or puts him inside a mound to suck away his chakra. Kidomaru hides and plugs him with spikes, or summons a bigass spider and dozens of smaller ones to wrap him in webs. Sakon and Ukon fake him out and doubleteam him, or merely enter his body. Tayuya kills him with ogres or puts him in genjutsu. They probably don't even need their curse marks, ignoring their erroneous, self-depreciating words in favor of actual abilities.

? They were exhausted. Those were 2 Tokubetsu Jonin who have little to no screentime. Asuma is straight Jonin. They forced them into CS2, TWO of them. And you think ANY of the sound 4 can SOLO Asuma? Wtf is this?

Those are both short range skills. Now put him against Kidomaru and he's done. Asuma does have ash cloud, which you probably should've mentioned but I'll bring up as a courtesy. However, seeing as how he burned himself with this and was relatively okay, the sound 4 can tank it easily, if not avoid it with even more ease.

Now, I'll give you that soloing without curse marks depends on the conditions. If Asuma has no knowledge, or if this is a forest like the one Kidomaru and Tayuya fought in, then yes they can. Without one of these perhaps not. But they can still solo with cs2. And putting all four of them against Asuma at once is just overkill.

Yep, this is the only thing people on the opposing side of the relevance of rank can say. "WELL NARUTO ISH GENIN". Naruto and Sasuke are obviously the exception to the rule, I'm baffled people try and bring this up, although I understand why one might do so. Anything else that doesn't include characters who couldn't rank up even if they wanted to because it's obvious they'd be promoted to jonin?

Asuma is restricted to moving? He doesn't have to stand long range. It's called closing the distance.

That was actually because Hidan was immortal and reflected the damage, and you know, how it destroyed Kakuzu's mask instantly and all. Let's only talk about the way to downplay it in every way possible.
