If it was really just about that touching the Jinton, why did Onoki have to go so far away then?

My point was that Tobi can just teleport into the air if he wanted to. Minato can't without a mark. Minato's S/T requires on him being able to mark Onoki. Tobi's one doesn't.



Onoki can fly to the clouds. I just can't see Minato going up that high. And Onoki has this attack:

That looks pretty long ranged to me




If Onoki didn't have the ability to fly, then yes I agree it's a bad matchup. But I just can't see Minato being able to tag Onoki apart from at the beginning when Onoki tries to fly away.

madara escaped it without using preta path, and he said that the clones using susanoo wouldnt be fast enough to escape it. meaning they would have been were they not using susanoo.

plus, madara said he only allowed atomic detatchement to connect so he could show them hashirama's face. maybe arrogance, maybe not.

i do agree, oonoki's ability to fly makes things tricky. but it's not an end in itself. atomic detatchment does have impressive range, but it's not going to reach from the clouds to the ground. plus, the further away oonoki is, the easier minato can dodge. and dust release is quite chakra intensive

Minato can throw his kunais into the air and teleport himself to the air, besides if he manages to put a marking on Onoki he's done.
