You would be surprised how many anime/manga actually make their main character that way...its not a ripoff.

One Piece obviously came first.

No, not a ripoff...but everything that can be done has been done already, there's really nothing new especially with the basics of storytelling. I think we all learned from South Park about this...Simpson's did it!
