Now, Edo-Tensei was released, we won't be seeing how powerful Dan Kato really is and his Reika No Jutsu. You can't say Kishi forgot about him because he keeps on drawing and showing Dan Kato. What's the point of resurrecting Dan Kato and telling us about his Reika No Jutsu? I think he should do the same with Edo-Madara and Tobi, don't show the fight scene, just show us the war is over and Naruto won.

Fodder?

Not much is known of Dan's abilities but by all indications, he was a very capable and efficient ninja that served his village well. This is proven further when Kabuto Yakushi revived him thinking that he'd be a valuable asset on the battlefield. Dan is also noted to use a technique called the Spirit Transformation Technique. Although it is unknown what this ability entails, Dan implored his opponents to trap him in a barrier before he could activate the technique. In response to this however, Chōza remarks it wasn't easy to trap someone like him. Kakuzu referred to Dan and Asuma as gold and silver generals (a reference to shōgi pieces) again indicating that Dan is very powerful.

In most cases that would be true but there is no reason to write off his justu as non cannon simply because its in the anime.
Anime is not simply a catch up on the manga rehashed in color filled with fillers
though it is the case for many but it is also a way to bring more life
to the characters and give credit to some areas that do not make the cut in the
original source
