How did Minato invent Reaper Death Seal? It's not like he can practice learning the jutsu through performing it because it's a one time thing. You use it and your gone. How did he know it would even work?
Also, when he performs it, I believe Hiruzen makes a remark that implies he has seen the death god before or at least knows the jutsu going on. Also how did Hiruzen learn it from Minato?

Minato didn't invent it, therefor, it is impossible to do anything but to make assumptions through strange circumstances , someone was able to speak to the reaper and created a contract with him and than transferred the knowledge and so on till Minato and Hiruzen

And as how Minato learned it: I'm pretty sure it was Kushina who told him about it and he didnt invent it himself. The Uzumaki clan was famous for their sealing techniques and the RDS is the most powerful and dangerous. It was either created by the Uzumaki or by the SoSP who passed it down to his younger son who would become the Senju ancestor. Senju are releated to Uzumaki.

ok bro and to all the others who dont know the 4th didnt make it the second hokage did which is kinda stupid how they say they dont know how he died because he made it which means he had to use it but also on that note since he had to use it how did he get edo tensaid by oro cause it seals your soul so idk there is a major flaw in the story revolving around that jutsu but yeah the 2nd made thats how the 3rd knows it and the 4th knows it because it is a forbidden tech and kages can look at the forbidden ones thats how he knows it lol your welcome

the uzumaki clan taught him for sure
and they might have some techs due to which you will not die since it was a jutsu by the uzumaki and they were all killed except Naruto so all the secrets passed with them

You learn it from someone else. That person experiments by performing the Jutsu and give feedback. I'm thinking that after, the others examined the after effects of the Jutsu. So, simply logic:

1) One perform techniques and talks about it. 2) While the techniques is being performed, others record. 3) After the technique is performed, the last recordings of the technique is finalize and analyze to understand its strong points and weakness (or drawbacks) from both the User and Opponent.
