I highly doubt any of you will answer... but who knows?
I was reading the Conquer chapter of Mexican history; and I wondered this:
Why Pedro de Alvarado did steal and massacred Aztec ppl while they hold their Huitzilopochtli holiday?
It only provoked the subversión of Aztec ppl, and also the so called "Sad Night".
Wasn't he suposse to be a trained soldier?

the sad night is when the spaniards who were in the city massacred the people after attacking males performing their coming of age dance i think which started the hostilities against each other after they were being peaceful ish

Because Cortes was not at the moment in charge, because he had left to do something else, so Alvarado at charge decided to kill thousands of people just for the sake of doing it, probably he wanted to impose fear, for power, to shred blood, i dont know, but he tried to convince Cortes and the others that the Aztecs tried to sacrifice some people. But it was proven to be fake.

The Sad night is when the spaniards were expelled from Mexico-Tenochtitlan (the aztec ppl impire capital) due the massacre you mention.
I'm asking why Pedro de Alvarado, the spaniard captain in charge did the massacre.
Thanks for your try, anyway.
