Firstly, it was the 4th Hokage that was in the 3rd coffin. That's in the manga:

Secondly, do you seriously think that the 1st Hokage and 2nd Hokage were fighting at their full strength against the 3rd Hokage? NO! The two Hokages were being controlled by Orochimaru so they weren't able to show their true potential.

Therefore, the 3rd Hokage cannot defeat all the other Kages together.
