Name: Sakura Haruno.
Nickname: Forehead Girl, Billboard Brow and Tsunade Number Two.
Gender: Female.
Age: 16.
Clan: Haruno.
Looks:
Sakura’s hair is bright pink, just like a cherry blossom. She has large green eyes and has fair skin. As a young child, Sakura was often bullied because of her large forehead hence her nickname: Billboard Brow. Because of the bullying, she wore her bangs down to cover up her forehead but Ino encouraged her to wear her hair back.
In Part 1, Sakura was seen wearing a red gipao dress with white circular designs on it, with or without short sleeves. This included a zipper, tight dark green shorts and a forehead protector which she used to accentuate her face.
In Shippuden, Sakura, now a Chunin, has blossomed into a young woman. She has also changed her appearance but kept her red top from part 1 including black gloves, black boots, black shorts, short pink apron skirt and pink elbow protectors. Sakura is now also armed with a Chunin’s tanto which she wears above her medical pouch. Her cloth on her forehead has changed color to red.
When Sakura is not on a mission, she wears her casual red shirt with a light yellow shirt under it including a navy-colored skirt. She still wears her black boots in this outfit. Later on, she dons the uniform of the Allied Shinobi Forces including a Konohagakure flak jacket, skirt and regular boots. She is later seen wearing pants instead of her skirt during her assistance in the medic unit.
Finally, Sakura’s hair has a notable trait. In the beginning of the series, Sakura’s hair was very long. This was because, just like Ino, she grew her hair out because it was rumored Sasuke liked girls with long hair. During the Chunin Exams in Stage Two, Sakura guarded Naruto’s and Sasuke’s unconscious bodies during her battle against Dosu Kinuta, Zaku Abumi and Kin Tsuchi. Kin grabbed Sakura’s hair and taunted her for paying more attention to her appearance than training. Kin kept a tight grip on Sakura’s hair and forced her to watch Zaku attack Lee. This caused Sakura to cut her hair off to release Kin’s hold on her, and fearlessly attacking Team Dosu with a new goal, surpassing her team-mates. At this time, Sakura’s hair was very messy and short. After her battle, Ino cuts Sakura’s hair to make it neater. During the time she trained with Tsunade after the Chunin Exams, she had let her hair grow back but then cut it again in favour of her new, shoulder-length hairstyle. And just like Shizune, Sakura pins her hair up in a ponytail when working.

Sakura is a hot-headed and quick tempered Kunoichi, often punching people when she becomes annoyed or angry. But she is, most of the time, a kind, cheerful and friendly person. Sakura can also be a sensitive person, a girl who is quick to cry. But, she has also shown to be a strong-willed and determined Kunoichi, not one to lose or give up in a fight. Sakura can become frustrated with herself if she thinks she is being useless, unhelpful or a burden. In Part I, she often relied on Naruto or Sasuke for help. One of her greatest regrets was when she relied solely on Naruto to bring Sasuke back after he left Konohagakure. Sakura burdened him with the responsibility and promise to make sure he brings Sasuke back while all she could do was cry. Because of this, Sakura resolved to become Tsunade’s apprentice and trained with her to become a stronger and more useful Kunoichi. Since then, Sakura has improved but she still worries about her ability to help others.
Sakura, unlike the rest of Team 7, didn’t lose anyone dear to her during her childhood. This caused Sakura to misunderstand Naruto and Sasuke as they both desired a family and friends. Sakura is however more understanding than her two team-mates and she does not hesitate to ask if she does not understand something or if something bothers her.
In Part I right at the beginning, Sakura had a deep infatuation for Sasuke Uchiha because of his good looks, cool attitude and impressive talents. For that reason, Sakura was shown in many scenes trying to win his affection. As the story progressed, Sakura began to recognize Sasuke as a person who wasn’t perfect and developed a sincere desire to be there for him. And further into the story, Sakura truly fell in love with the Uchiha. Sakura also became concerned that Sasuke would someday leave Konohagakure for his quest to become strong. At the end of Part I, Sakura’s fear became reality. She attempted to stop Sasuke from leaving, even confessing her love for him and offering to join him. Sasuke thanked her and sounded grateful towards her but in the end, Sasuke left the village, leaving an unconscious Sakura.
Since then, Sakura has made it her personal goal to bring Sasuke back home to the Leaf Village. Sakura stills cares about his well-being but she is also willing to use force to bring Sasuke back to Konoha. As time goes on and Sasuke becomes more of a risk, even turning into a criminal, Sakura understands Sasuke must be stopped. Sakura agreed that they had no choice but to kill Sasuke themselves to prevent Konoha getting involved in a war thanks to Sasuke’s criminal actions or his death at a foreign country’s hands. But, Sakura was still saddened by the choice of action and also became distraught with it. Later on, Sakura tells Naruto she no longer has feelings for Sasuke since he keeps breaking her heart and states she loves Naruto instead, though Naruto and a few other onlookers suspected she was lying such as Kakashi and Yamato and others knowing the truth and that she was hiding something. Her team-mate Sai even commented that Sakura was still in love with Sasuke, which is later proven to be true and that she wants to kill him so that he does not fall into darkness any more.
Sakura meets Sasuke once more and becomes upset with how corrupted Sasuke has become and tries to kill him. In the end, Sakura is unable to kill him and is brought to tears as she begins to remember their past as Team 7. After Naruto saves her from Sasuke, Sakura accepts Naruto is the only one able to change and save Sasuke. Though she is deeply saddened by what Sasuke has become, Sakura is still in love with him.
Sakura’s relationship with Naruto also changed throughout the series. When they became Team 7, Sakura was rather disrespectful and rude towards Naruto, going as far as to insult or belittle him at any chance she got and even stated the one and only thing she disliked was Naruto.
However, as the series progressed, Sakura realized her negative views on Naruto were wrong and he continuously showed his worth as a Ninja as well as his determination as her team-mate. After the Chunin Exams and various missions they took together, Sakura noticed Naruto’s strength and began envying him. Sakura then decided to train herself more, to become as strong as Naruto. After Sasuke left Konoha, Sakura pleaded to Naruto, believing that he would be the only one able to bring Sasuke back. Naruto promised Sakura he would definitely bring Sasuke back home. Sakura then realized Naruto’s commitment to her happiness and how he has always been by her side. But in the end, Naruto fails to bring Sasuke home and ends up in hospital. But, he vows someday he would fulfil the promise he made to her. Inspirited by his determination and realizing how far he would go for her, Sakura spends the next three years training under Tsunade so that in the future, she could join Naruto on their mission to bring Sasuke back.
In Part II, Sakura learns what Naruto had to go through all his life such as the Nine Tailed Fox, Kurama and the organization, Akatsuki. Sakura, after learning more about Naruto becomes saddened by all this and becomes protective of Naruto and tries to do whatever she can to aid Naruto in overcoming these obstacles. Sakura also begins to empathize with Naruto and develops a strong and deep friendship with him due to their spending a lot of time together as a team and close friends. After her confession to Naruto, Sai explains to her how deep Naruto’s love towards her truly is, and the level of pain that trying to fulfil his promise has caused. This fills Sakura with guilt, causing her to shed tears as well. After the events in the Five Kage Summit, Sakura confessed to Naruto that she loves him and that she no longer cares about Sasuke. She also tries to get Naruto to give up on his promise. However, Naruto doesn’t believe the words coming out of Sakura’s mouth and claims that she is lying, saying she knows her better than that. Later on, Sai confirms this to Naruto, telling him the true reason behind her fake confession. The truth was, it was an attempt to make Naruto forget about their promise and to distract him while she and the group hunt down and kill Sasuke. Although Sakura is told that Naruto loves her, Sakura stills cares for Naruto as a close friend and her team-mate, does not feel the same way for him as they are ultimately one sided on Naruto’s part.

Sakura has an inner self called Inner Sakura. This portrays her true thoughts, feelings and emotions. For a comedic factor, Inner Sakura represents Sakura’s honest opinion on things when she outwardly displays something opposite of that she truly thinks. For example, when Team 7 where to meet their Sensei, Kakashi Hatake, Naruto played a prank on him which Sakura says is childish but Inner Sakura enjoyed it. Inner Sakura has a tendency to shout “Hell yeah!”, “Hell no!” or “Damn it!” depending on the situation. For censorship reasons, the English anime was replaced with a forceful “Cha!”. Inner Sakura also appears to be another person inside Sakura’s mind because in the Chunin Exams when Ino used Mind Body Switch Technique on Sakura, Inner Sakura was able to send Ino back to her body. From this, Sakura might have a split personality. Inner Sakura appeared a few times during the start of the series but disappeared midway through Part I. Her only other appearance was at the start of Part II. Sakura now, when angered, upset or depressed doesn’t keep it in and instead, let’s her sometimes violent outbursts hit others around her such as Naruto.

History:
When Sakura was in the Academy, she would be the victim of bullying because of her large forehead. Sakura tried to avoid this by using her bangs to cover her forehead. However, this backfired and caused the kids to tease her even more because of her clear insecurity to it. Ino Yamanaka realized this and helped Sakura by giving her a red ribbon the she used to draw attention to the cute accessory which made Sakura more confident. After this, the two became best friends and Sakura became more outgoing thanks to Ino’s guidance. However, Sakura felt she was living in Ino’s shadow. Sakura wanted to prove to Ino she was her equal, not a copy. Later, when Sakura found out Ino had a crush on Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura broke their friendship so they could compete for Sasuke’s love. This began the rivalry between Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka.
