I've been thinking about this for a while, and Orochimaru's actions regarding Sasuke don't really make sense. First, here is what we know about Orochimaru and the Sharingan in the series:

1. Orochimaru was obsessed with obtaining the Sharingan after seeing Itachi training when he was a kid.

2. Orochimaru couldn't take the Sharingan from Itachi, because Itachi was too strong for him.

3. Orochimaru set his sights on Sasuke as the youngest and least developed Sharingan user.

4. The Sharingan can be transplanted and used by non-Uchiha characters.

5. Orochimaru knew about transplanting the Sharingan and Senju DNA because he had experimented on Danzo at some point.

6. The Sharingan can be further developed after being transplanted, even in non-Uchiha characters.

7. Orochimaru's transference jutsu only lasts for a few years before the body begins to reject him.

The last two points are the ones that makes all of Orochimaru's actions completely random. What is the point of nurturing Sasuke and allowing him to get stronger? We all know how that turned out for him. Orochimaru could simply have killed Sasuke as a kid, and transplanted his eyes at any time.

We know that Orochimaru wasn't concerned about the EMS, because he was ready to take over Sasuke's body when Sasuke attacked him in bed. In fact, I'm not even sure if Orochimaru knew about the EMS or the negative side effects of overusing the Sharingan.

To further Orochimaru's randomness, he would have had to change bodies within a few years anyway. This would have completely eliminated any benefits he would have received from having an Uchiha body, and if he wanted to keep the Sharingan, he would have had to transplant the eyes anyway.

So as the title says, "Why not just kill Sasuke?"

Plot no jutsu! Good observation, though.

Orochimaru wanted an Uchiha's body right? So killing Sasuke wouldn't grant Orochimaru with that wish. And, he had to wait another few years until he could attempt to get Sasuke body again correct? So he couldn't do anything but wait as Sasuke grew stronger. It was only a matter of time before Sasuke was able to defeat Orochimaru in his weak state. And Sasuke dieing? I don't think Kishi would kill off his favourite character so soon, he's still breathing right now lol. But lovely thread, well done on it.

I hate having to explain Oro cuz people just dont get it...

If Oro transplanted Sharingan, he'd still have to cover them, evident to how Danzo still had to cover his Sharingan. If he transferred his soul into Sasuke, he wouldnt have to cover Sharingan and be able to use it as if he were an Uchiha.

Also, like you said, his bodies only last a few years. If he transplanted the Sharingan, he'd lose it with the body when he's transferring bodies. Also, if he transferred his soul into the body of an Uchiha, he'd keep the eyes since all jutsu from the previous body stay with him permanently.

Also, he needed Sasuke to be stronger cuz, lets face it, Sasuke was a kid. If Oro transferred his soul into the body of someone as weak as Sasuke was, it might have taken a toll on his power, which could cause the people he experimented on to have an opening for revenge, as well as his enemies.

This pretty much explains it. Oro needed a strong body, that's why he made sure Sasuke got stronger due to his training. A regular genin body is useless for him, so he had to make sure that once he took over the body, it would be strong enough.
The idiot just hadn't counted on the fact that his plan would backfire and that his strong body would end up killing him *Shrugs*

This^^

Also, Oro wanted to use Sasuke's body as a vessel for his reincarnation jutsu, I'm not 100% sure if he was after the sharingan though (probably didn't compalin since they would come with Sasuke's body...)

Have you even read the manga? It's because Sasuke has the Sharingan that Oro went after him. Originally Oro wanted to take over Itachi's body, but Itachi proved to be too strong for him, so he set his eyes on the younger one, the one of which he thought would be easy to take over once the time was there.
Oro was obsessed with the Sharingan: if Itachi and Sasuke didn't have them, he would never have bothered with them.

Because Sasuke is Naruto's friend. It'd be real depressing if Sasuke was killed, I assume it'd be like when Jiraiya died, Naruto wouldn't be himself :| And Sasuke is a main character...

You know that when a non uchiha body uses sharingan, it takes alot of chakra and body also suffers?

thats the reason why kakashi was on bed for one week when he used kamui on deidara but was perfectly fine when he fought kakuzu and hidan .

if uchiha use sharingan then , it can be also used to obtained MS then EMS and at end rinnegan ?
