I think you're mistaken about something, a small thing you probably didn't think was relative, which is that we should do what we can, since we obviously don't have superpowers. So, doing what we can with the little power we have is enough, hopefully it'll influence others. Asking for more is unreasonable and petty, relying on others for change that is.
It's like it is with all these environment issues, we leave most of it to the politicians, quick to push the responsibility of our misfortune onto others, but they can't really do much.

YES! Exactly. Caring,compassion, and selflessness have went from being the norm, to being looked upon as things that only "losers" or "weirdos" care about. And this isnt something that just one culture or society has embraced, its who we have become! We are changing and chainging and eventually we will all contradict ourselves. Its inevitable.
