Why is it that a lot of people always have to attack or insult one thing to compliment something they like?

Whether is be a character in an anime, a genre of music or even something such as food.

I suppose it's just a stupid way of trying to prove their liking it, by showing how much they hate its opposite or something else competing with it.
In the end I think it's about wanting not to be alone, albeit they only speak for themselves in the end, so it's really stupid.

Because sometimes people can say the most retarded things that makes you . Sometime people can also be a bit irrational which often leads you towards mocking them for being retarded. Lets be honest here we are all guilty of it and mostly a victim of it as well.
