I haven't seen yet nothing piercing his shield. Perhaps bcuz I missed his most recent battles.
And plus it has gold sand added. Sure Gaara should have a great amount of chakra its why I stated Shukaku it would make things much easier for him bcuz he will be controlling those sands and doesn't waste that much of chakra which means he can use gold as he wants. He would of enlarge it thickness too so it would be much harder for anyone to pierce it.
About Minato he won't be able to reach Gaara because Gaara can easily stop all of his Kunais using sands(which are all over the place).
I'd love to see this fight.
There's no way he would lose. lol
While they have not been directly used against Gaara, there is little doubt that techniques such as tailed beast bomb, one-finger stab, dust tech, etc can piece it.
"And plus it has gold sand added."
Gold does not add any defensive strength to his sand unless it is melted into one mass. In that case, it is still not very strong as gold can be easily indented with a fingernail. The reason Gaara's sand has high defense is because he uses chakra to hold it in place. Obviously if he wasn't doing this the sand would just collapse. This is why his sand armor uses up chakra even though he isn't moving it around. Gold dust cannot be directly manipulated by Gaara, so it would actually lower his sand's defense because he cannot hold it in place.

This was extremely hard to understand, so my reply may be off.
1. Shukaku is not the automatic sand shield which uses up zero chakra, Gaara's mother is, as stated in the manga. Furthermore, if Gaara wants to make a giant shield as you suggest, instead of sitting passively, he has to use his own chakra.
2. Gaara cannot directly manipulate gold dust, he has to move it inside his sand.
3. Making a huge ball/wall/shield of sand would eat up Gaara's chakra very fast, and it is still likely to be pieced by particularly powerful attacks or bypassed. Point being, all an opponent would have to do is avoid gaara's attacks; there is no question gaara would run out of chakra first. In anycase, Gaara would be unlikely to do this as he more often uses clones and hides his real body, which is frankly a smarter tactic that what you've suggested as it causes his opponent to waste attacks and chakra while he rests.
