Edit: Itachi never said he was perfect, anything that says that in this thread is a fail. But because he did not trust in people's strength, he did in anyway thing he could do anything by him self. That bit is partly correct. Anyway read on
I keep hearing itachi say things like, kabuto was just like him he thought he was perfect and believed he could do anything and you need to forgive yourself for what you can’t do. After reading this I thought but how did itachi think he was perfect and what are some of the things that he did because he thought he could do anything. So I am going to go over some of the things itachi did, thinking he could do everything and the lies he told him self.
Realising the uchiha's selfishness, arrogance and lust for power and deciding to handle it with his own hands.
Mistake: Who was he to decide this faith for the uchiha he isn't a god, maybe there could of been over ways to relieve someone from hatred instead of just wiping them out.
Leaving an uchiha survivor(sasuke) that loved his clan, his mum and dad and has not seen the selfishness arrogance and frantic lust for power by the uchiha.
Mistake: He lied to himself thinking he was the man to end this selfishness, arrogance and lust for power by the uchiha. When the truth was he was a caring loving person which is why he couldn’t kill his little brother.
Expecting that he could make sasuke a "hero", but the only way the uchiha can get strong is to go down the path of evil and hatred.
Mistake: Not realising that this path of evil and hatred might overwhelming him. Which is why he told sasuke the lie that he only killed the uchiha to measure his own capacity.
After the third hokage's death coming back to remind the village (mainly the elders) that you were alive and they better remember their promise not to lay their hands on sasuke.
Mistake: He didn’t trust sasuke’s strength and reminded sasuke of the hatred he needed to follow. This is what lead to sasuke wanted more power and not caring how he obtained it so he was easily influenced by the sound 4. If you notice it is after sasuke got beaten up by itachi he woke up in hospital and wanted to fight naruto, the start of sasuke’s path down hatred towards is brother and not caring how he obtained it.
Realising how much hatred sasuke had and who he was becoming after the death of orochimaru and maybe more by deidara. So he planned he could control sasuke and change his heart with KA which is basically the same with what tobi is trying to do with the world.
Mistake: This was part of him thinking he could do everything.
I think it was naruto who finally made him realise that stuff about realising who you are, forgiving yourself for what you cannot do and relying on your comrades to help you do what you can’t. Maybe he saw naruto can actually change sasuke after observing him over the years. Which may have made him realise that he was not prefect and couldn’t do everything like deceiving himself that he could end the uchiha clan when he clearing couldn’t finish the job. He also didn’t trust the strength of the village thinking they could not handle the uchiha or find another method like the third wanted.
