How can itachi lose his eye?

If itachi is a edo should he be affected by Izanami? On some level it makes no sense to me. But i do recall kabuto saying not a lot is known about the edo tech. Either way i am sure it's a plot. but it also means madara is bound by these limits using his rinnegan. since he has EMS he won't lose his light? it kind of makes the edo technique not that cool in anymore. Overall my question is does that mean edo is not all that great? debate time

I am under the impression that since they can regenerate their bodies i figure eyes and all those other things count also. By logic itachi should not even have eyes if sasuke took his. with that being said, it just makes no sense that Izanami or Izanagi would effect a edo. did kishi not state diedra could blow himself up multiple times as a edo, so should a sharingan user be limited also. it just seem's like a mistake on the writers part to me.

it's clearly unusable and the light is lost, if he is a edo it makes no sense that he is still bound by the techs laws. the eyes are part of body so they should be regenerating also along with his other body parts.

its not deteriorating, youre looking at it like damage was done, its more like the eye gets sealed in exchange for use of the technique

itachi wont regenerate with a new sharingan. if itachi uses izanami, gets obliterated, then regenerates, he would regenerate with a sealed eye.

how can going blind be called a sealing tech? i think kishi just wrote himself into something that's not logical, but the casual fan won't mind or even notice besides folks on here. still it makes no sense. he should not even have eyes and even if he does no eye tech should have a draw back.
