Slowing down on Fast Food
What will happen if you eat nothing but McDonalds in one month?
This is one of the reasons why you must watch Morgan Spurlock’s “Super Size Me”. Morgan had proven to the world that eating nothing but McDonalds products in one month will eventually get you sick. Spurlock's film follows a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003 during which he eats only McDonald's food. The film documents this lifestyle's drastic effect on Spurlock's physical and psychological well-being.
Before Morgan started his Fast Food diet, he had consulted various doctors to check his physical condition and all tests revealed that Morgan is perfectly fit.
Morgan didn’t actually finished the 30 day fast food regiment because his poor physical and physiological condition. At the end of the program Morgan gained 13% body mass increase, a cholesterol level of 230, and experienced mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and fat accumulation in his liver. It took Morgan fourteen months to lose the weight gained from his experiment using a vegan diet supervised by his future wife, a chef who specializes in gourmet vegan dishes.
However critics of the film, including McDonald's, argue that the author intentionally consumed an average of 5,000 calories per day and did not exercise, and that the results would have been the same regardless of the source of overeating.
Nonetheless, fast foods are commonly processed foods with tons of preservatives and seasoning. Based of Morgan’s French Fries experiment, McDonalds fries didn’t rot nor show signs of molds after 4-8 weeks. If Mother Nature can’t process it, our body wouldn’t have a chance.
