Gaara would beat Mei for now seeing as she as no speed feats or defence as of now. However I'm pretty sure she does seeing as she has mastered 3 elemets and has 2 kekkei genkais. This alone should be enough to think of what she is capable of. If they ever duke it out Im betting on Mei but for now their is no proof. Therefore no argument.

no, because Gaara manipulates sand because of his wind affinity. They are connected. Small grains are easy to manipulate in all directions. hey u know what? for kid like u it'll be just easier to take some sand in ur hand and try to blow it. then take wet sand and try to blow it goddamit

For people who think gaara sand is effectef by water it isn't it states in his bio that he can still munipulate sand even when satgurated (soaked) by water
the only reason he had a hard time against past mizukage is because of the oil it breaks and seperates the sands particles there fore making it slower and less durible

water doesn't do anything to it if he can crush people (who are 70% water/blood) what is suiton jutsu gonna do nothing blood is thciker and heavier then water and his guard sand is full of blood and chakra
that's why when kiba smelled it he couldn't bear to smell it because it had so much blood in it (back in chunin exams)

mei can not touch gaara she is short to mid range fighter (as we know for now) gaara is all range (usually long range) she doesn't have speed feats to bypass gaara sand (have to be as fast as a or bee or sasuke) let alone be able to dodge his attacks witch come from all direction gaara wins
(if taken flight) easy-mid diff if not mid diff

OK, first of all, people REALLY NEED TO STOP THINKING that by adding water to Gaara's sand it's gonna make it SO FCKING SLOW that Mei can just trot on towards Gaara and give him a melting kiss. NO. The water will BARELY have an effect on the sand. You guys are all misunderstanding the 3rd Mizukage's fight with Gaara. The 3rd's "water" (WHICH HAS SPECIAL OIL IN IT) wasn't even meant to "SLOW DOWN" Gaara's sand. It made his Sand uncontrollable. Like if this was Avatar, Gaara couldn't bend the sand anymore because the oil messed up the grip of his sand or something. So enough about this suiton2x crap. Sand > Suiton unless you're Niidaime Hokage then let's talk about Suiton > Sand

Hey it takes time to melt the rocks,soil to create lava!!!......it takes a lot of fire and heat.....excess fire(amaterasu) is needed to melt rocks...but a drop of lava is sufficient to melt through boulders or start fire!!!...so lava is hotter than fire!!

Mei has no defense. At all. Gaara flies around uses sand to defend. Captures and crushes Mei and no where back to part 1 "sand buriel". Not to mention that now Gaara can literally control a dessert's worth of sand to bury and absolutely crush mei. Gaara low diff.
