Cuz Gaara is a static fighter, i will give this to Mei. She can use her large scale of suiton jutsus and Gaaras sand will be pretty much useless

In my opinion Mei wins.
She can use her lava release multiple times, while gaara can block it just one time... After he blocked lava for the first time, the lava itself and his sand will become stone and I never saw him trying to move a block of stone....
If gaara uses his sphere to defend himself, he will maybe get killed because of the heat the Lava or Fire produces...

We have to base our facts that as Kazekage, he would have HAD to fight Suiton users. If this were the case, anybody with decent Suiton skills would be more than a match for Gaara. What the 2nd Mizukage used against Gaara was oil. If you don't believe it to be true, look at the mechanics of Jouki Boy.

Amaterasu is just fire sand needs much time to get heated and melt from fire but lava is much hotter than normal fire so can quickly melt the sand!! B)

She hasn't shown any speed feats stop giving her something she doesn't have and u need to be as fast as sasuke or A to avoid gaara's sand let alone the amount of it

Also for the ppl who say she can use those earth jutsus once again she doesn't have these attacks Dnt give them to her just because she has an earth affanity
If Thts the case then I'd give gaara a fan and rasengan because he has wind affanity

I'm sure Amaterasu is hotter than lava. Lava isn't always hotter than blue fire (hottest fire) and I guess in this fictional world of Naruto, I'm assuming that black fire is the hottest, so yeah. And again, LAVA+SAND WONT MAKE GLASS. OKAY?
