Kabuto's strategic error

The answer is likely plot no jutsu buuut....

The only reason Kabuto allied with Tobi was because the masked man had Sasuke in his possession. Kabuto desires Sasuke for the declared purpose of "obtaining the power of the Sage of the 6 paths". He likely plans to accomplish this through the Living Corpse Reincarnation Jutsu. Why does Kabuto not just end Edo Tensei, effectively eliminating Itachi from the battle, capture Sasuke, and slip into the shadows?

This strategy would likely cause Tobi to lose the war and, because there were no witnesses, everyone would think Kabuto died because his jutsu ended. I know everyone in the manga knows now that killing Kabuto won't end Edo Tensei, but ending the jutsu would have implications.

Even if the Allied Shinobi technically won, Kabuto would be God knows where unlocking the final secrets of the Sage and eventually have so much power "that even the 5 Kage will have no choice but to bow before him". This last quote was taken from "the Serpents Pupil" episode by Kabuto about Orochimaru once he takes Sasuke's body.

very true. And he can always revive Madara later as long as he has the dna.... Sasuke is very powerful atm, top 5 alive maybe, but he's no match for Kabuto, who is on a whole other level alongside Tobi.

furthermore, Kabuto should just have let the shinobi world forces and Tobi's army slug it out, and then introduce his edo tensei army later, he would have made a killing.

Sadly, these two 'plotholes' suggest that kabuto is not long for the naruto world. I just hope that he won't get trolled like Oro did, but it looks that way so far.

I mean once the Sharingan is deactivated there's basically no way to unlock its secrets unless Kabuto resorts to torture or genjutsu...

Kabuto is stuck between a rock and a hard place atm. On one hand he could end Edo Tensei and try to take on Sasuke, but then Sasuke could kill him because Edo Tensei would be over. Or he could summon Edo Madara to eliminate Itachi and capture Sasuke, but then he would forgo his prime opportunity to eliminate the Kage's

I don't think this battle is over yet. I think Kabuto will have a few more tricks up his sleeve before he gives up on the Kage's and summons Madara to take care of the Uchiha bros

:shrug: If he only allied Tobi cause Sasuke, I think his error started since the very begging. Before his alliance with Tobi, all what the rest of world knew bout him was that for some weird reason he transplanted oro's cells into his self.
If he knew where Tobi's hideout was, and Tobi did not know that Kabuto's target was Sasuke... And if Kabuto already had Madara... wouldn't it had been easier if he lured Sasuke with Itachi(since Sasuke basically ran after him) ? At that time Tobi didn't know nothing bout his edo tensei or what was his strenght, so if Tobi tried to attack him, Kabuto would had got the adventage.

I am going to make this very, VERY clear to everyone: Orochimaru AND NOW KABUTO CANNOT DIE BY CONVENTIONAL METHODS. Orochimaru's fight against the four-tails is evidence of the white snakes resilience. Even after Orochimaru was chopped up into several pieces when he faced Sasuke, he still lived and subdued the Uchiha fledgling. There is a reason why the third Hokage tried to seal him with the reaper death seal. there is a reason why Sasuke had to suppress Orochimaru's spirit/chakra. There is a reason why Itachi had to use the sword of tetsuka to seal him away. these traits are now passed onto Kabuto. Sasuke has no known sealing techniques, and even amaterasu can be countered by Oro's style substitution jutsu. Sasuke cannot hope to defeat Kabuto and i suspect that Kabuto has methods to avoid the power of the sharingan when his "tranference ritual" takes place.
