Shukaku

In part one we learned that when Gaara is unconscious shukaku took over. So when Gaara was knocked unconscious by Deidara why didn't Shukaku go on a rampage?

Maybe it was becuase Gaara was off in chakra (I don't if what i'm saying soes even makes sense... I better go to sleep).
By the way, stupid comment: I always confuse Shikamaru's dad name with Gaara's biju.

Shukaku can only take over if Gaara is asleep not if he is knocked off
