first off i think izanami effects both the user and victim as shown right here itachi tells sasuke to stand back it could be that izanami requires a specific range of distance to take effect possibly? maybe itachi didnt want sasuke to get caught in it? idk.

then itachi saids'' im the one who has your destiny in his hands''

i think izanami is basically a judgement/order
the person who is using izanami basically thinks of a specific order for the victim to do sort of like KA, thus by itachi saying he had his destiny he's basically saying he has kabuto's control.


when itachi saids you are one that will decide it, i think he meens kabuto has the CHOICE​

to fulfill this specific order cast on by him by itachi.

i also think izanami makes the victim relive a certain point in time for a moment as why kabuto was confused about his horn.

thus in the end i think izanami literally traps the victim within their own subconsciousness until they give into the order set by the user (itachi)

basically to summarize this all up kabuto is in a limbo like state dream within his own mind.

He can make the destiny "Kabuto dies"
And untill that destiny is fufilled , kabuto will be stuck in the loop for all eternity

Most likely itachi made it to "end edo tensei"
This is itachi's plan, Kabuto will be permanently stuck in the loop unless he changes his destiny to what itachi set for him..., which is ending edo tensei, and getting rid of madara...


Izanagi also seems to have an AOE effect.. As itachi told sasuke to stay away from him once, and stay close to him the other time, Still a few things i don't get , but this is what i think so far
