its kinda like a loop statement, once kabuto did what itachi wants, the genjutsu will be over.

If the foe decided the wrong path, he starts at the beginning

Itachi is basically forcing Kabuto to release the edo tensei. That is the destiny Itachi set for Kabuto - he must choose to accept it

kabuto is stuck inside an endless loop until he fulfils the destiny itachi chose for him, which is to cancel edo tensei.

however, that doesn't mean that sasuke at least can't attack Kabuto's defenceless body while Kabuto inside the loop. of course, it would be counterproductive. but he still can if he wanted to, which is insane. it's an instant win basically...
