Are the anbu overated

People overate them too much because previous captains were Kakashi, Itachi, and quite possibly Minato and/or Orochimaru. I mean Kabuto was able to take down quite a few and some of them weren't able to help Sandaime during part one.

The only anbu that seem to be useful are ex anbu like Kakashi and Itachi.

Yeah, they cant get one misson done, they cpudnt even protect the third hokage. If the third hokage would have had an open area instead of that four flames barrier the sound 4 put up he would had a much betterchance since he was being tripple teamed.

Exactly, kishi f*ck*d it up, ANBU to be *sskicked by worthless people. He didn't wanted to be the (anbu)sidecharacters in a great fight between the storylinecharacters. He just made a simple fight, so the anbu looked like sh*t.

anbus' are hokage's intel...there are groups of anbu, root and anbu reporting to hokage

They are not think of all the people that came from anbu.. use your own brain im not listing. They just get trolled if anbu stopped all the attack's on konoha and so on the show would be pretty lame. So they need to be trolled.

I think Kishi uses the ANBU to show how strong the opposing villain is. Seeing how the ANBU are supposed to be Top Rank ninjas, if a villain takes a few of them out you would think he's strong. ^^
