as we know genjtutsu affects ones senses and cast them in an illusion. But what is someone uses an offensive attack and their opponent uses genjutstu, does this reverse the attack???

When Itachi met Deidara. Deidara attacked him, but was under genjutsu and was actually attacking himself.
You mean like what Sasuke did to KB? KB was about to attack him then got caught in a genjustu and dropped to the floor.
i dont remember that scene
so Deidara's attack failed?? Was this the same with Oro than??
Yes, his attacked would have blown him up if Itachi hadn't told him to look at himself. That's when he realized he had put the explosive centipede on his own body.
I don't think Oro was trying to attack Itachi.

They will just keep using the attack depending on the genjutsu. If the illusion makes them feel restrained, they won't be able to move. If not, like when Itachi used his finger genjutsu on Naruto, they'll probably end up attacking air.
I think the attack will continue....
If you catch your opponent in genjutsu, then you control his movements and his brain, lets say, A is attacking B with firestyle jutsu, And B uses genjutsu in time and catches A in it, then B can make him see that he is using firestyle on opponent, killing him, whereas in reality he would just be using it away from B or even at his friends.
